Seattle's 2024 transportation levy is in good shape and likely to pass, NPI poll finds
An effort to renew and increase a levy that provides a key percentage of funding for the Seattle Department of Transportation enjoys the support of a majority of Seattle voters and is likely to meet with success in the coming November general election, a poll of the Seattle electorate recently conducted for the Northwest Progressive has found.
The Keep Seattle Moving campaign, endorsed by Mayor Bruce Harrell and most of the Seattle City Council, is asking voters to approve an eight year levy, which would increase property taxes beginning in 2025 of approximately $65 per $100,000 in assessed value, up to a maximum of $271 per $100,000 in assessed value, to fund transportation priorities for all modes across the Emerald City, leading with street and bridge maintenance.
52% of 613 likely Seattle voters surveyed from October 28th November 2nd, 2024 by Change Research for NPI said they had or would be voting for the levy, while 36% said they had or would be voting against. 10% were not sure, 1% did not recall how they voted, and 1% said they would not cast a vote for or against Seattle Proposition 1.
There is no real organized opposition to 2024 Seattle Proposition 1. According to the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission, the only active campaign entity is the Yes campaign, Keep Seattle Moving, which has raised $340,667.43 from one hundred and five contributors to pitch a yes vote to Emerald City voters.
