West Virginia magistrate faces bribery, fraud, tax charges

WHEELING (AP) — A magistrate in West Virginia has been indicted on charges alleging he accepted bribes from a bail bonding company.

U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced the charges Tuesday against Ohio County Magistrate Harry A. Radcliffe III.

Powell says in a news release a federal grand jury indicted the 60-year-old Radcliffe on charges that include bribery, wire fraud and filing a false income tax return.

Radcliffe is accused of soliciting and accepting bribes from a Wheeling bail bonding company and directing defendants and their families to the company without offering other required options.
