Preliminary impeachment proceedings for WV Supreme Court begin Tuesday
Three West Virginia Supreme Court justices and one former justice will walk into a room Tuesday, and what happens from there will be in the hands of a circuit court judge, five members of the House of Delegates and the 34 members of the West Virginia Senate.
On Tuesday morning, Chief Justice Margaret Workman, Justice Beth Walker, suspended Justice Allen Loughry and former justice Robin Davis will have the first chance to answer articles of impeachment against them during an initial appearance before the state Senate.
The initial appearances for each of the impeached parties are set to begin at 10 a.m., according to Senate records.
During the initial appearance, each current and former justice, or their attorneys, will be able to plead guilty or not guilty to the articles of impeachment against them, according to the summonses for the trials and the Senates rules for the impeachment trial.
