By now everyone knows about Antifa. But what about Antigov?
If you haven’t heard of Antigov, listen up! Because it’s my opinion that Antigov is a far more pressing danger for West Virginia and the entire United States. They don’t like to identify themselves as “antigov.” They prefer to say things like “government isn’t the solution, government is the problem,” or “the business of America is business!” or “we want to deconstruct the administrative state,” or “we want to make government so small it can be drowned in a bathtub.” All of it translates to “we want to destroy the American government.”
Which is more dangerous between Antifa and Antigov? Let’s take a look.
Antifa traces its historical roots back to the 1920s in Italy fighting fascists, and then in the Spanish Civil War fighting against Franco’s fascist forces; Antigov traces part of its history to the American Civil War fighting against Lincoln’s federal abolitionist forces. This lineage also traces to the likes of George Wallace and Southern opposition to federal Civil Rights laws. Another part of their history they trace to antigovernment thinkers like Friedrich Hayek and Ludwig von Mises who sought to destroy 20th century social safety net programs like American Social Security or European healthcare.
Antigov has been occupying the West Virginia Capitol for the last 6 weeks, and they plan to do it again in the fall. And during Antigov’s occupation, they’ve blockaded taxpaying citizens & the public from participating in our state politics & they’ve flouted public health regulations that the rest of us are expected to follow. Antifa members want to #DefundPolice; Antigov wants to #DefundWV. They’re shoveling proposals to completely defund the state over the next decade with regressivetax proposals, along with plans to #DefundEducation #DefundUnions (including #PoliceUnions) #DefundHealthcare & #WeakenProtections (eventually #DefundRegulators is going come up, after #DefundWV goes into effect).
Antifa may be recognizable and easy to blend in with—just dress in all black & cover your face. Antigov has a looser dress code among the rank & file, but among the leadership the uniform is simply an expensive suit with an ironic American flag pin, no face covering required. The flag pin is ironic because their ultimate aim is to destroy the American government. Antigov members yell about Antifa & Black Lives Matter as though they are mortal enemies of Antigov—which should tell you something about how Antigov’s members feel about fascism & Black lives. Antigov needs to yell about how Antifa and BLM are “looters” who are ”destroying America” because Antigov has to keep voters distracted. That’s because Antigov members are the real antigovernment looters destroying our American government...
