The historic home on the Catholic Memorial High School campus comes down

WAUKESHA - Workers began tearing down the historic Casper Sanger home in Waukesha on Monday, Aug. 20.

An excavator could be seen gutting the 1948 home with Italianate, Gothic, Victorian and Colonial design influences. The home, which sits on Catholic Memorial High School property, has been used by nuns and office workers in the past but has sat vacant for years.

The decision to destroy the home upset local historians, who said the building is historically "high-caliber." It is included in the National Register of Historic Places.

Lori Holly, the school's director of advancement, said in July that the building became unsafe and the school plans to use the spot as a green space.

Maybe not as historic as this one, but they've been taking out landmarks and in some cases whole neighborhoods of older but good quality homes, and replacing them with blocks of cheap apartment buildings.

It's insane.

Kind of like Trump knocking down the historic Bonwit Teller store to build his cheap-assed tower.
