Green Bay West music teacher accused of stalking student
Former Green Bay West music teacher accused of stalking student sentenced to 90 days in jail
A former Green Bay West High School music teacher will spend nearly 90 days in jail for sending inappropriate messages to a student.
David Viste, 38, was sentenced Thursday to three misdemeanor counts of sending obscene messages. Each count carries a 90-day sentence, but Viste will serve them simultaneously. Two days will be shaved off for time he already spent in jail.
According to the criminal complaint, Viste pursued a boy, then 17, singling him out for special attention in class, inviting him to house parties and bombarding him with more than 1,000 messages via text and Snapchat. Some of the messages were sexually explicit.
Court documents filed earlier this month indicate five students told police they received messages from Viste that were often sexual in nature. Viste allegedly asked one student to have a "clothes off encounter" with him.
