The Wisconsin Department of Health Services confirmed 3,474 new cases of COVID-19 and 40 new deaths on January 8. That brings the state’s total number of cases to 502,012 and the total number of deaths to 5,119.

Over the past week, the state has added an average of 2,715 cases per day, 26% higher than the previous week. Meanwhile, 36 people are dying per day from the virus, which is 32% higher than the previous week. The test positivity rate of 36.2% over the past week is higher than the week before.
