Dangerous heat and humidity in store mid-week with an Excessive Heat Warning in effect

A warm front is now located over the Chippewa Valley with breezy southerly flow sticking around. As a result, it will be a warm and muggy night across the area as lows only drop into the upper 70s, and potentially, low 80s for some locations.
Eau Claire may break the existing record warm low temperature of 75°, set back in 1968 as we are forecast to drop to 76°. La Crosse will have the same opportunity as their record warm low temperature is 78°, set back in 1948. Theyre forecast to see a low at 79°. Wednesday will be a good day to stay inside and enjoy the air conditioning if you can as we will be reaching the peak of our hot and humid weather. A large upper-level ridge of high pressure will crest overhead, while winds generally remain out of the southwest with our warm front lingering in the area. These factors coupled with plenty of sunshine will allow temperatures to soar into the mid and upper 90s with triple digit heat possible in our southern counties. Dew points are likely to be in the gross category as most places will see those at or above 75°. The extreme heat and humidity will easily allow heat index values to climb over 100° during the afternoon, with it potentially feeling like some locations are up to 115°. There will be an increased risk for heat-related illnesses given the expected conditions, and thats why an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for much of Western Wisconsin through early Wednesday night. If you work outside for a living, be sure to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the A/C.

(3,019 posts)the excess moisture is coming from corn, as corn is a plant that releases moisture.
I'm like, huh??
This comes from a guy I usually trust.

(52,344 posts)I just looked at a weather map of the US and the moisture from the hurricane went way up into Canada and and around the edge of the current heat dome. It didn't mention corn at all.

(11,869 posts)And yes corn does increase moisture locally, but not nationally. Corn sweat is a thing but not like a Gulf of Mexico moisture blob.
I had 92 degrees at 11:05 AM today in Central, WI.

Weirdest thing I've seen. Got my summer fill of LP this morning at 7:45 am and thought, good idea. Get that day over with asap.

(11,869 posts)One of my three dogs is a long-haired Aussie (against recommendations I cut her hair short in May, but it grew back), that stubbornly wants to stay outside. She relented after noon and is in front of a fan now.
