LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- More than 12,000 Wisconsinites will have their student loans forgiven because of changes to federal income-based repayment programs.
Borrowers who make less than $15 per hour won't have to make any payments on federal, subsidized or unsubsidized direct loans, according to the U.S. Department of Education.
Those who make more than that are also expected to save around $1,000 per year due to the changes.
..........................
However, any loans that are discharged will be taxed as income under current state revenue codes.

(8,160 posts)1. These 12000 people need to be made aware
that if not for President Biden this loan forgiveness would not have happened and that the republicans were fighting against it.
