Baldwin Brings Home Over $211 Million for Dozens of Wisconsin Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced she successfully secured more than $211 million for community-driven projects in the bipartisan Fiscal Year 2024 government funding package that passed the Senate today and now heads to the President’s desk.

“Delivering for Wisconsin communities, families, and businesses has always been my priority. I’m proud to bring home direct support to help keep our communities safe, stand behind our service members, and grow our agricultural economy,” said Senator Baldwin. “These projects, whether its building more affordable housing, expanding access to childcare, or investing in our law enforcement, will address the specific needs of many different communities and help us build a stronger, safer, more resilient state.”

The Fiscal Year 2024 legislation includes funding for Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies; Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies; Energy and Water Development; Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies; Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies; and Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies.

Statewide

U.S. Army Corps: $120,000,000 for the Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP) for the Upper Mississippi River and Illinois Waterway, which aims to improve the capacity and efficiency of the navigation system through updated lock and dam infrastructure and smaller-scale infrastructure designed to further improve the advantages of towboat and barge transportation.

Western Wisconsin

Impact Seven: $4,000,000 to support the Housing Opportunity and Mobile Education project that will create affordable apartments in conjunction with on-site training in advanced manufacturing for low-income and underemployed residents in Hayward, Ladysmith, Minong and Hurley, Wisconsin.

Western Wisconsin Health Expansion: $1,000,000 to expand the hospital’s labor and delivery room and construct a birthing and medical-surgical room in Baldwin, Wisconsin................................................
