The presidential election is 2 months away. When does voting begin?

Municipal clerks must send absentee ballots to any voters who have a request on file by Sept. 19. Voters have until Oct. 31 to request an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots must be received by the municipal clerk by 5 p.m. Nov. 5, election day. (Military and indefinitely confined voters have until 5 p.m. Nov. 1 to request an absentee ballot).

According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission, absentee voting requests can be submitted at myvote.wi.gov or to your municipal clerk in writing, electronically, or in person (starting 14 days before the election) using the Application for Absentee Ballot or statement containing all the information required on the form.

Any person registered to vote can request and absentee ballot. If an absentee ballot is requested in person, the ballot has to be voted then in the office, or the clerk can mail the ballot to the voter.

Early in-person voting begins in Wisconsin on Oct. 22 and ends Nov. 3. For more information on dates and times in your community, contact your local municipal clerk.
