Wyoming floats the idea of requiring trail passes for hikers, cyclists and horseback riders

Stretched across Wyoming, snaking through meadows and woods and over mountain passes, are hundreds miles of snowmobile trails.

They wander through the Black Hills and the Uintas, the Wind Rivers and the Big Horns. They receive tens of thousands of visitors each winter.

Paying for those trails are the snowmobilers themselves.

Each machine requires a $35 sticker, with $34 going to everything from trail and parking lot building and maintenance to supporting patrols on U.S. Forest Service land.

their programs already exist. This is a push to facilitate states taking over federally administered public lands which they will exploit and/or sell off.
