(50,927 posts)Poilievre is running for Conservative leader but says he is running for Prime Minister. This is generally known.
You haven't explained the "in training" bit. It seems to have come from left field or beyond Jupiter because I have no idea what you mean by that.
Who is in training? You, Poilievre, someone else?
Who is in training for what? For running? For running Hawley 5K? For running for leader? But he is running. In training for leader?
What does defining euphemism have to do with anything? You need a euphemism for Poilievre? "oily lever"?

(123,151 posts)which means no government programs. Or no tax dollars will go to private corporations building his airport in Toronto (Pierre does this mean you are against oil and gas subsidies across the board? No government subsidies is that your policy?). "In training" means us. We better get ready to punch a hole in his bullshit. O'Toole didn't use so much vague bullshit. Nobody has in Canada. Even Rene Levesque was honest about wanting independance and did not want to win by crafty means.

(50,927 posts)Good post. Poilievre is following the playbook of demagogues everywhere: Rant vociferously about "freedoms" being taken and the high cost of living and then be vague on what would be done because of incompetence and fear of giving the opposition something to sink their teeth into.
Perhaps the phrase needed is instead something with more bite than "euphemism" (which after all serves a useful social function). Your first synonym "code word" is applicable, as is "dog whistle". Perhaps something like "misdirections" (oo - shiny loss of freedom over there!), "cover story" (block some subsidies while massively cutting taxes and pushing into deficit), etc.
Others that I found looking up synonyms were:
chicanery
subtefuge
devious
shady
tricky
hypocrisy
deception
deceit
sneaky words
sly words
He avoids debates because he can't afford to be pinned down on his bullshit. Maybe that's the key; couple a word indicating deception with "bullshit":
devious bull or devious bullshit
tricky bullshit
sly bullshit
sneaky bullshit
hypocritical bullshit
It looks like we'll be stuck with him for a while.
Better put the media on notice that if they soft-pedal his sly bullshit like the media in the US soft-pedalled tRump's hypocritical bullshit, then we are in danger of ending up with a bilingual tRumpish disaster here.
