Holy Smokes!

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/smoke-over-edmonton-prompts-air-quality-advisory-1.2708994

It's incredibly smoky here thanks to the fires in NWT and on the BC/Alberta border. All day the light outside was eerie. I have asthma and am trying to stay indoors near my small window air conditioner in my bedroom to keep out of the smokiness. I've lived up north when there has been forest fires and I don't remember it being this smoky there. At least it's cleared up a bit this evening but my whole house still smells like campfire because I have to keep most of the windows open in the rest of the house - it's been hot here too. We tried to keep the windows closed but when the indoor temp hit 27C we opened them, LOL.

And apparently some have seen ash falling. I haven't seen that.

I can't imagine what people in Yellowknife are dealing with. It must be incredibly thick there.

here in the desert, we can get smoky from fires in AZ and CA much more than we eat the smoke of our own, usually smaller fires.

Our own fire season hasn't been bad this year; we've gotten just enough rain to make the forest too damp to burn when lightning strikes or some clod pitches a lit cigarette into the woods.

on the radio today. Stay safe and I really feel for you. Eat lots of broccoli - it is said it is very good at removing pollutants from the body.
