Ex-Mountie commits suicide years after bus beheading

I can't even imagine having to deal with this type of incident, so many more victims than the young man who was killed. This should shed light on the issue of PTSD and how it can impact the lives of those in uniform . It appears that this man had seen far too many gruesome crime scenes over his two decades.

Family and former colleagues say the 51-year-old had already seen almost two decades of horrific crimes when he witnessed the grisly scene on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Winnipeg in 2008.

Tim McLean was stabbed, mutilated and beheaded by Vince Li, who was later found not criminally responsible because of mental illness.

Barker’s family say they’re speaking out about the suicide in the hope more Mounties will seek help.

2. I'm so sorry for him and his family

Years ago I was friends with an ex undercover cop who had a terrible drinking problem. He struggled with it for years, he'd stay sober for a few months or even years then something would set him off. He finally drank himself to death. This made me think of him and the demons he lived with.

May they find their peace in the afterlife.
