http://www.cbc.ca/news/u-s-journalists-theo-curtis-matt-schrier-held-hostage-by-canadians-in-syria-1.2754402When so many Canadians are being radicalized in Canada; often from the "homebase of CSIS and the RCMP (Calgary), just why are these agencies chasing rabbits and going after low hanging fruit? In the last year alone a sizeable number of Canadians have left Canada to fight Jihad, just how are these dangerous threats slipping underneath the radar?
The biggest threat to democracy in Canada unfortunately comes from undercover police who disregard our laws and due process without a shred of accountability, but now these lazy self serving agencies have become a threat to our allies as well. If they aren't doing their job who will?

(751 posts)... will be the day that a politician "gets it".
Harper is no different than any PM before him or any of the three leaders of the current parties if they won office. He receives filtered intelligence reports and sales reps convincing him that their agency needs a larger budget (yet again, and again...and again....) so they can protect Canadians, he then nods his head and signs the cheque. From the courts on down to the oversight (or lackthereof), Canadian police can operate more freely and "creatively" than in any other country in the West, at the expense of Human Rights, civil liberties, certain ethnic communities and domestic business successes.
It seems to me the strategy is simply to allow radicalization to occur in Canada (you can be certain that undercover police are often "assisting" in this radicalization), fiercely over-sell apparent domestic threats (and burn a chunk of cash clamping down on them) while willingly turning a blind eye to the exporting of those who are radicalized to foreign countries where they will cause harm to other populations (and often time our allies).
There is no way that the RCMP and CSIS; as self serving as many of their covert agents are, could be so incompetent as to not be aware of who these Jiadist nutjobs are. The inability to address these serious threats is impacting our International reputation.

(751 posts)But then it really doesn't serve any value when some of these radicals go overseas and succeed, such as those involved in the gas attacks in Algeria, one of numerous Canadians identified as radicalized and operating overseas. Do the RCMP and CSIS want every Canadian who flies into another country closely scrutinized as a potential threat?
