We should be the most robust, dynamic and recession proof economy in the world based on this fact, what barriers are preventing our global domination?

1. Well.

Climate, population density (and relatively small population) and low productivity are a few barriers. And being so tied to the US is an issue as well, so geography plays a role. We DID weather the '08 recession rather well though compared to other countries.

I was surprised to see this article, though. I didn't know we had so many educated Canadians. I live in an area where not that many people have degrees, although quite a few have 1 or 2 years at a community college. Interesting statistics anyway. Thanks for posting this.
