Ottawa Valley radio station raises $20K in four hours for suicide prevention

Story here

Every year, an Ottawa Valley radio station picks a local charity to support with a holiday fund drive. This year, the campaign helped a suicide prevention clinic - and raised $20,000 in just a few hours.

From the article:

"Here in the Ottawa Valley, as there is in many small communities, there are a number of suicides, and they're not talked about a whole lot. But the community feels the impact and the vibration of that," (station manager Jason) Marshall said.

"We're such a tight-knit community, so that when something like that happens, it has a spin-off effect for everybody. So when the opportunity came to partner with the guys, for us it was a very easy decision."

in such a short period of time. A commendable effort!

We're experiencing a higher rate of suicide in my local community as well, mainly among youth.
