Thorold man rides to forget G20 debacle

TORONTO - You just don’t forget having your leg pulled off by police.

In fact, five years after they confiscated his prosthetic limb, John Pruyn still hasn’t forgiven Toronto Police, Prime Minister Stephen Harper or anybody involved with the infamous G20 conference.

He’s still as angry as he was in 2010 when he was detained by police.

“News stories often say I was arrested, this is not true,” said Pruyn, 62. “I was taken or it was a political kidnapping. I was never charged with anything.”

But he was still held for 27 hours in the notorious temporary Eastern Ave. detention centre.

“I was never given an explanation. The police controlling the cages did not know why I was there,” he said in an interview from the side of the highway in British Columbia where he and his daughter Sarah and other G20 detainees have embarked on a summer-long ride for justice to mark the anniversary of the troubling G20 but also to shine light on the fact they haven’t gotten over it.

..'though the comment section contains the usual Sun scum.
