The only time you can trust the federal Liberal party is when they don't have a majority -- and even with a minority government they have to dragged kicking and screaming to do anything that does not please Bay Street. This fact needs to be repeated over and over again in the next few months leading up to the election as political amnesia is a dangerous condition to take with you into the voting booth. It's been 10 years since we had a Liberal government and even longer since we had a majority Liberal regime. A trip down memory lane might serve as a curative.

(13,711 posts)That he will serve to do the same function Obama did? Let people have a taste of liberalism before the sensible type run in?
I know American politics has not had much to be proud of, but at least Bush has been gone, and god willing, will remain gone, but Harper needs to be removed posthaste as he has already changed Canada for the worse.

(5,604 posts)The Liberal party is an incremental improvement over the Conservatives, but for those that follow the votes, they more often than not vote with the Conservatives on sovereignty destroying hand outs to banks, wall street, and the energy sector and fully support every destructive trade deal. Historically, the Liberal party has campaigned to left and govern to the right. They were going to re-negotiate NAFTA, scrap the regressive GST, and legalize pot 20+ years ago when they were in power.....
I wish the NDP were Tommy Douglas's NDP, but they are not. Still they are the viable alternative to every day working class people, and the establishment media are loathe to admit it.

(4,320 posts)strategically. I hate Harper. I loved Pierre . Martin not as bad as Mulroney.
I prefer NDP but Liberal or NDP will make me happy. Green is good but not enough of them.
We must stop the harper destruction of our beloved country..

(63 posts)With the current leadership, NDP, Green, and BQ are all good choices. Tory and Liberal are garbage. Unless you're 100% certain that that you cannot get a Duceppe, May, or Mulcair candidate elected, don't vote Liberal.

(5,562 posts)He was downright evil with his hacking and slashing in the name of the stinking deficit. He set Harper up very nicely to continue the job.
Trudeau is a pretty face, but its looking more and more that's all he has going for him. When he voted for C51 that was the last straw for me, and thankfully I won't have a ABBH choice to make because the NDP is strong in our riding.
