Spider-Mable takes on cancer and crime in Edmonton

Spider-Mable takes on cancer and crime in Edmonton

"SNIP..............

Six-year-old Mable Tooke, better known as Spider-Mable, is currently on the lookout for villains and bad guys as she fulfills a dream granted to her by the Children’s Wish Foundation.

She has been fighting cancer for the past two years, but this morning she is fighting crime with Spider-Man. And the public is invited to watch it all unfold.

Mable met Mayor Don Iveson and went to a meeting at Edmonton police headquarters Monday morning where she emerged with a photo of the suspect accused of kidnapping Oilers captain Andrew Ference. She chases a villain Monday afternoon at West Edmonton Mall’s World Waterpark and then rescues Ference from the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Her parents, the Children’s Wish Foundation and a small army of people across the city have been carefully planning her magical day for months.

Mable told reporters Monday the worst part about her cancer treatment was missing school. Asked why she likes Spider-Man, Mable said, “Because he’s smart.”
