(113,130 posts)that US Republican campaign tactics are being used by the Canadian Conservatives. I guess they're correct: lying, especially to minorities they think are naive enough to buy it, seems to be one of their favorite tactics. The minority here in the US is the low information right wing Christian. See: "Obama will confiscate your bibles" in 2008. In Canada, I suppose it's the recent immigrants. Fortunately for other Canadians, most of them likely can't vote yet because they're still working to become citizens.

(113,130 posts)The newly arrived are being considered too naive to see through it. I think they'll have the good sense to be insulted. We'll see.
The point is that the Conservatives do seem to be adopting some of the tactics of the Clown Party here.
