I did like Mulcair. I feel like he kind of lost his way in that last campaign. He turned to the centre to make the NDP look a little more like the Liberals, in a misguided (I think) effort to attract more moderate votes. He did well in the debates, by and large, but just petered out on the campaign trail.

Having said that, I'm not particularly sad to see him go. I'm interested to see what kind of new voices we can drum up for the NDP that will keep with the party roots. Sadly, I think it will be a long time before we see another Jack Layton (RIP) rise in the NDP.

My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful, and optimistic. And we'll change the world.
