3 more horses euthanized at Calgary Stampedes chuckwagon races Sunday

The Calgary Stampede confirmed three more horses were euthanized following the chuckwagon races on Sunday, bringing the total to six deaths.
According to a press release, the right lead horse on Evan Salmonds wagon sustained a running injury. A veterinarian assessment found the horse had a fractured left hind cannon bone.
Two other horses on the wagon team suffered serious injuries, as a result.

Both were cared for immediately on the track but the medical team found there was no option for treatment and all three horses had to be euthanized, stampede officials said.
The Calgary Stampede called the incident upsetting and said it will be initiating a thorough review process surrounding chuckwagon safety following the recent deaths.

Actually....
I was reading yesterday that a chuckwagon driver was banned from competition after he let his wagon go or caused his wagon to go into the path of another wagon. A horse did die as a result of the collision. I didn't post, because how much interest is there in DU about that?

A chuckwagon driver has been barred indefinitely from competing after a collision at the Calgary Stampede that caused a horses death.
We live and work as a family committed to the well-being of our beloved animals and this type of incident impacts us deeply to the core, Stampede CEO Warren Connell told reporters Friday.
The Stampede says driver Chad Harden impeded fellow driver Danny Ringuettes chuckwagon and caused a third rig driven by Evan Salmond to collide with the tracks inner rail, resulting in severe injuries to a horse that led to its death. ... It happened Thursday evening in the seventh heat of the Rangeland Derby. Three other horses on Salmonds wagon had minor injuries.
An independent chuckwagon safety commission ruled Harden should be fined $10,000 and disqualified from the remainder of this years racing, which means he will not be invited to compete in future events.
