Removing trucks could be almost 'impossible,' say heavy towing experts
Incredibly difficult without co-operation from drivers, say those in the field

Trucks are parked south of a police roadblock on Metcalfe Street on Sunday as a protest against COVID-19 restrictions extends into its second week. Police say there are 500 trucks in the main protest area, and towing experts say they could be incredibly hard to remove.

"SNIP......
Heavy-duty towing experts say it will be difficult or impossible to remove the hundreds of heavy trucks entrenched in Ottawa's downtown unless the drivers allow it.
CBC counted 40 trucks on Kent Street and 109 on Wellington Street Friday, with dozens more on other streets spread around the downtown core. Then on Saturday, Ottawa police said 500 heavy trucks were in the so-called "red zone."
Trucker Lloyd Crowe from Picton, Ont., has been parked just a couple of blocks away from Parliament Hill since last weekend, but he's not worried about being towed.
"If you know anything about truck air brakes, once you pull that button, all 18 wheels are locked," Crowe told CBC on Wednesday.
.......SNIP"
And they need 2000 more police officers:

Hold the drivers in jail until they agree to cooperate in removing the trucks.

(9,629 posts)Break the window and push the air brake button in.
Afterward, impound the truck and either make them pay heavy fines or sell it.

(3,326 posts)If trucks break down on the highway they find a way to tow them. The army can put tanks up on truck beds surely a semi cab weighs a lot less and is a whole lot less complicated. As far as trucker Lloyd, air brakes can be unlocked one way or another, the easy way or the hard and really expensive way.

(92,753 posts)Back in the day, would impound the rigs that went really fast, like so many of mine, they not only arrested you, they would take the axles off the tractors and put it on a train back to your home state so you could deal with the costs there. I made a point of staying far away from there because I was fast runner and could not afford the cost of getting busted for speeding there.

(123,154 posts)they are doing construction on Parliament Hill at there are two huge construction cranes there .... maybe they could pick up a truck and drop it on the ice in the Ottawa River. Actually men around the country would like to see that bit of destruction. It would make Trudeau look bad ***ed.
