Representatives of the Ontario government have declined a third invitation to participate in trilateral talks to deal with ongoing anti-vaccine mandate protests, sources tell CBC News.
A provincial source, who was not authorized to speak publicly, told CBC the government of Ontario Premier Doug Ford does not think trilateral talks between the federal, provincial and Ottawa municipal governments are necessary since all three levels of government have kept in touch since the protests started.

Earlier this week, Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair announced plans to set up the meeting with the two other levels of government to co-ordinate efforts to end the protest.

A spokesperson for Ontario's solicitor general added in a statement that policing protests is a responsibility carried out by local police services.

Doug Ford is being his usual asshole self, doing nothing to end this, he has the responsibility and the power to direct the police, the OPP, to end this. It is not the Federal Government's responsibility unless or until Ford makes a request for their help. He has not done so.

(54,371 posts)Unfortunately the latest poll I could find has the Cons ahead by 9 points and the next election is coming up within a few months.
This could affect the party if he continues to do nothing but not sure there is enough time to make that big a difference. I have my fingers crossed that I'm wrong, lol.
Here's a link to the article on the poll I mentioned:

(54,371 posts)instead of splitting the left vote as happens too often, imo. If they do that, there is a good possibility of a minority government either NDP or Liberal.

(1,432 posts)Knows the Ford bros really well, as police chief in Toronto, Blair went after Doug's brother Rob, the crack head mayor of Toronto. Rob as mayor, & doug as a city councilor tried to get Bill Blair fired as chief.

(54,371 posts)Doug was and is disgusting and his brother was too. I was so disappointed in Ontarians voting him in but with the left split it allows the Cons to slide in sadly.

(1,432 posts)the Toronto deputy chief when Blair was chief. Doug Ford is a huge trump supporter, knows what grudges & payback are. Doug was a nasty POS when he was dealing hash as a kid, somehow, suddenly he had no competition for his wares.
