52% of voters and 50% of constituent states would NOT be a mandate for major constitutional change in any other democratic country that I know of.

The good news is that, according to May's current timetable, we won't be fully detached from the EU, and therefore America's de facto 51st state, until American Psycho is - with any luck - out of office. (Assuming that he and Krazy Kim haven't blown the world up before then!) The bad news is that Moodys have just reduced our credit rating because of this Brexit mess. Oh joy!
