Donald Trump has said Boris Johnson would be an "excellent" choice for the Conservative Party leadership.
In an interview with the Sun ahead of his visit to the UK, Mr Trump said: "I think Boris would do a very good job."
The US president said other candidates had sought his endorsement, adding: "I could help anybody."
It comes as Home Secretary Sajid Javid is the latest contender to say he is prepared to leave the EU with no deal.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Mr Javid ruled out holding another referendum, an early general election or revoking Article 50 to end the Brexit process.

(10,390 posts)There is not enough appetite in Parliament for a no deal Brexit. Plus there was a vote that showed that parliament was against a no deal Brexit. There's enough opposition in Parliament to ensure this doesn't happen.
Now as for BJ becoming PM? Given that it will be Tory MP's winnowing the field down to 2 candidates and then the Conservative Party membership deciding between the two... I don't know if the Dotards endorsement helps or hinders him.

(102,478 posts)It has to take control of the process again, get another vote against it (the old one doesn't apply now, since it was specific to the old date), and then talk to the EU about another extension and what we can get passed. And the EU will want to negotiate with a government, not a rebel alliance. There could come a point at which some EU states say "let them leave without a deal, it'll act as a warning to any other reluctant member that you really are better off inside".
Opposition in parliament isn't enough on its own; it will have to form a pseudo-government, or force a general election. Neither of which looks likely to me.

(14,800 posts)...Brexshitters were outraged when Barak Obama pointed out that leaving the EU is a phenomenally stupid idea.
Now that President Fart has intervened even more openly and clumsily in UK politics they are bizarrely silent.
And the daft thing is that I can easily see the Tory grassroots preferring Dominic Raab for PM! Raab, is more respectable, less bumbling and if anything an even worse politician than Boris Johnson!
