He is what happens when you don't vet candidates properly - he was so very momentum.... *rolls eyes*

Formerly the DJ at West Street Live in Sheffield, he won Sheffield Hallam (the seat I grew up in) for Labour from Nick Clegg in 2017. O'Mara's victory came with a great deal of assistance from Momentum, who targeted the seat in order to oust the hated Clegg.

Those of you who remember the coalition may have thought that this would have been an improvement. Nothing could be further from the truth. O'Mara has done little to no work, had the whip withdrawn by Labour after details of his past behavior came out and been a total embarrassment to the city. He's hanging on as MP for what appears to be purely financial reasons in spite of being clearly not up to the task.

He has disabilities, but that doesn't excuse some of his past behaviour, and he evidently isn't serving his constituents well.

Gareth Arnold was one of his staffers in charge of his social media, until today.

So, just remembered he needs my phone to login to his Twitter. Shit. Sorry mate. Consider it payback for all the nonsense I said to people defending you.

Arnold has posted some more about his resignation on his Twitter feed (though the media are currently all over him anyway): https://twitter.com/garetharnolduk

Sounds like O'Mara might need a stint in rehab to be honest.

Which means that there is going to be a by-election in the constituency where I grew up.

I really do help that O'Mara gets the help he clearly needs, and politics is not a good environment for people with his issues at all. The less said about his record as an MP the better quite frankly.

For the record, one of the candidates is my girlfriends next door neighbour and as luck would have it, that's the candidate I would be supporting anyway!
