UK government policy: go faster stripes

Javid said the United Kingdom's economy was strong enough to cope with a no-deal Brexit and rejected criticism that the money would be better spent on healthcare or education.

"A lot of the work was going on but (what) we needed to do was paint go faster stripes on it to make sure we are properly, genuinely ready," he said on a tour of Tilbury Docks near London.

October 31 is approaching rapidly. Chancellor Sajid Javid has announced £2 billion more to “paint go faster stripes on” no deal planning. But what are the key economic preparations the government should be making?

The Conservative leader said the proposal, which will initially support 100 towns, will help improve transport, broadband and cultural infrastructure. The commitment, announced on Saturday in Manchester, is part of Johnson’s strategy to “paint go faster stripes on” regional growth.

“In the 98 days that remain to us we must paint go faster stripes on our preparations to make sure that there is as little disruption as possible to our national life,” Johnson told parliament.

BRITAIN'S next prime minister must "paint go faster stripes on" plans for leaving the EU on October 31, the Brexit Secretary urged last night. But Cabinet Minister Stephen Barclay pledged "We will be ready" even if there is no deal. He warned that the chances of leaving without an agreement are far higher than expected by businesses.

But Mr Hunt said: “If we are to paint go faster stripes on our economy and take advantage of Brexit, we need to back the young entrepreneurs who take risks and create jobs.”

BoJo writes that Britain’s exit from the bloc will spark “a revival in the Conservative party” which has been ripped apart by the government’s inability to pass a withdrawal agreement through parliament.

He continues: “Most important of all, we can begin a new and exciting agenda for post Brexit Britain – and begin to paint go faster stripes on the most innovative economy in Europe.”

Sources close to Mr Johnson have said the former foreign secretary is considering establishing a network of free ports across the UK post-Brexit in a bid to “paint go faster stripes on” the economy.

And they vowed to spend up to £100 million in an effort to find a new metaphor ...

Sounds like a scam. Is there an open tender bidding process whereby freelance (non-Oxford) contractors such as myself might get a piece of that action?

but the basic idea that for all their use of the same metaphor again and again, they won't make anything go faster, is the correct one.
