(37,468 posts)He may be the bookies favourite in the race to replace Theresa May in Number 10, but Boris Johnson received a less-than-warm welcome on the campaign trail in Kent.
Stopping off at a garden centre near Sevenoaks on Monday, the wannabe prime minister was probably expecting a nice chat with some OAPs.
Instead, the silver-haired crew had another kind of greeting for Johnson.
Good luck with your preposterous ideas, one woman shot at the former foreign secretary before adding: Shame your brothers not running.
Meanwhile, a man branded Johnson crazy to his face. Ouch.

VERY well-deserved.
Thought you were gonna be Cock o the Walk, eh, Boris?
Just lovely, isnt it. The West is now crawling with Russians with ill intentions, and the Brits are now stuck with a PM named Boris...

"Maybe get back to Parliament" - Boris Johnson heckled during speech in Rotherham
The PM was asked why he wasn't recalling MPs and "sorting out the mess you created?" https://bbc.in/2m9EvS1

The heckler was eventually ejected. But it wasn't over yet:

Trip to the north going well is it Johnson?

Compere BBC presenter Steph McGovern, as Johnson left the stage to stony silence, then a smattering of very forced applause at her encouragement: "I'd just like to point out, I AM a girly swot, and Im proud of it. Lets see whos in the job the longest."
McGovern later felt driven to apologize for her remarks:

At a non BBC event I was hosting today, I made a light hearted remark after the Prime Ministers speech. Sorry that this caused offence to some. That was absolutely not my intention.
Johnson, on the other hand, has yet to apologize for shafting the country, dismantling democracy, lying to the queen, lying in this very speech about having earlier said that the police spending £60 million on investigating historic child sex abuse cases was "Spaffing money up the wall", and generally being a lying git.
