The Remainer, The Brexiteer & The General Election
I had an interesting conversation with a Brexiteer today. He voted Brexit, he thought it a good plan, I pointed out that the problem with those that voted Brexit, was not their opinion on the EU, but that any of them thought for one moment about the total and utter numpties the lead us and how on earth they would make a success of it. He conceded the point with humour.
We chatted about the polarisation of politics today with the swivel eyed loons from both main parties having successfully taken centre stage and leaving the average moderates out in the cold. We agreed on so much during our discussion, austerity and Brexit have a lot to answer for.
The thing I found most interesting was that this Brexiteer, as a working-class man from a very poor background, and labour through and through was adamant he could never vote for the Tories, even if they are the party for Brexit. BUT, he could not vote for Labour because of Corbyn and his left wing takeover of the party institutions means that for moderate Labour they have no where to go. He was incredulous that the main dissenter on the back benches for 30 years, refuses to tolerate dissent now he is in charge.
So, his solution. He is going to vote Liberal Democrat in the next election. Even though they will stand on a stop Brexit platform his position on Brexit is not nearly as important to him as everything else.
The Remainer and the Brexiteer voting in the same way in the upcoming GE. I take this as a positive sign, softy that I am.
