Nigel Farage has come out and said that the Boris Brexit is not a real Brexit. Therefore the leaders of the two leave campaigns in the referendum cannot agree on what Brexit should like, but we are told to believe that the 17.4 million who voted to leave knew the Brexit they were voting for… how the hell does that make sense, when even the Brexit zealots seemingly can’t agree on what they voted for… There is no bloody logic there at all…

1. It's never made sense, so don't expect any now.

The deliberate strategy of the Leave campaigns was to be vague about what Leave meant. That continued once May took power - "Leave means leave" and "A red, white and blue Brexit" etc. It's one reason next to nothing got done about it for the best part of three years and why we're where we are now.

The moment they tried to nail it down and define it so that it could be acted upon, all hell broke loose. May's Chequers cabinet meeting agreement lasted barely a day before it prompted major dissent and resignations, most notably Johnson's.

Unfortunately, the vagueness allowed mission creep, where airy promises from various leaders in the Leave campaigns of an orderly and calculated withdrawal and continued membership of the Customs Union or an EFTA-type deal have gradually transformed to the current situation where the only "true Brexit" is no deal at all.

It's ironic now to hear Farage pointing out something we Remainers have been banging on about from the start: any relationship with the EU short of membership means the UK will be a rule-taker, not a rule-maker, "sovereignty" be damned.

3. The leave campaign promised different things to different people

One minute they were promising increased tariffs, the next magic new free trade deals. They have never really wanted to deal with the messy, complex reality of their pet project.

2. That's how you systematically dismantle a government

to usher in autocracy. Misinformation, control the system in power, cause confusion, undermine democratic authority, create a crisis then take over. It's an old game plan. But it's the following 20 years that get really ugly for the rest of us.

4. Different definitions of "Brexit".

Farage is for a complete separation from the EU, and then rebuild ties. I.E. the 'Hard Brexit'. Corbyn - if he wanted a Brexit - would go for a withdrawal from the EU but remain in the customs union and free trade area - i.e. a 'soft Brexit'. Theresa May and Boris Johnson's deal is between the two... Leave the EU, stay within the customs union and free trade area for a while until a new deal can be worked out.

Personally I say Bollocks to Brexit.

5. It seems to me that the Farage-Johnson back-and-forth could be a calculated distraction.

You know, "fake news"? It might be a creation of the media or Nigel and Boris. Who knows? Maybe
all of them are in on it.

6. If so, it's already fooled many Brexit supporters

I can see them on British forums, divided between "the only solution is No Deal" and "support the Tories, to make sure Corbyn doesn't get in". If anyone is distracted by it, it's Brexiteers. It already lost them the Peterborough and Brecon and Radnorshire by-elections.
