"Simple lesson: there is a big majority in US and U.K. for anti-pc nationalism wedded to leftist economics. The first Democrat to get there wins."

There are an awful lot of replies pointing out where the word 'Nazi' came from.

in the last few days, but I think it's been around for a while.

Its schtick is "socialist" economic policies allied to decidedly right-wing social ones. Classic populism, in other words.

I imagine that'll work out well. How to take the wrong kneejerk message from the recent election.

There are also a number of US politicians (including, regrettably, Biden, who I've had a lot of time for over the years) who've sadly been opportunistic in seizing on the UK election results as if they have serious lessons for US politics when the reality is far more nuanced and complicated.

What is it I often say? - "You don't win elections by saying 'Our opponents are right, don't vote for them.'"

If people want (lipservice) watered-down Toryism/Republicanism, they'll vote for the real thing every time.

It came across to me back then as people in London theorising about people they've never met.

It's provoked some fun responses on Twitter this time round:

Blue Labour's ethos is basically pumping money into hospitals for when all the women who've 'walked into a door' arrive.

i looked at the data, and the entire north is just one single man who wants to vote labour but voted tory because he is a bigot who needs a dose of good old fashioned honest bigotry above all else, which my vision for the labour party will deliver | My Column

It was something of a think tank bubble. A few political journalists got excited by the whole "Blue Labour" shtick, but that was about it.

I've been saying snarkily that he might just get one-nation Conservativism when England is the only nation in the former UK when everyone else has left.

I see Labour losing votes hand over fist, and pretty much everyone else gaining votes at their expense.

The main story of this election is the ongoing decline of the Labour Party. Which is very bad news indeed.
