It’s tough for Tory MP’s this weekend, but we actually have a proud record of fighting poverty - the life chances agenda transformed places like Plymouth. But you know all this; this is your trade - the hate you’ve whipped up is extraordinary. No-one voted to ‘starve’ anyone.

...Yeah that is what happens when you decide that ideologically driven clap trap is more important than actually making sure kids to not go hungry when we in the midst of an economic crisis that is hitting the lowest paid worse, in a pandemic. When you think of the billions they have wasted on track and trace but chucking a few quid to vulnerable kids so they do not go hungry during the holidays it a step too far.

Going to guess that the families that have been driven into poverty by a decade of austerity and then the utter cluster fuck that is the Tory management of Covid and Brexit are having a tougher weekend than this bunch of out of touch, elite wankers. Still at least they have a new slogan as we head into a long dark winter of discontent.

1. They really are the most unspeakable shower of whiners.

Angela Rayner calls one of them "scum" in Parliament and it's all fainting couches and "watch your language", while the most vocal of their number and cronies persist in demonizing the poor, branding judges "traitors", Priti Patel continues to brand conscientious lawyers "do gooders" and "lefty lawyers" even after the Met Police warned her that this was encouraging far-right terrorism, casual constant insults and worse are aimed at UK minorities ranging from the Scots to the Welsh to the Irish to "immigrants", and they suck up to the most degenerate and dangerous elements in society with tactics ranging from dogwhistles to outright inflammatory propaganda.

Apart from a vast amount of heat on social media - which they could all avoid by shutting up and forgoing their ego trips on social media for a few days - some holding to account in the mainstream media and their overheated in-trays, the worst I've seen so far has been a bunch of crockery left on a Tory social club doorstep:

I have to say at this point that Miriam Cates is the worst MP I've ever had at constituency level. I've had others like Lee Rowley and John Whittingdale who are more extreme but Cates is very negligent and makes no attempt to respond to correspondence or interact with anyone at constituency level other than photo ops with property developers.

Sorry Mercer, but it wasn't so much the executive that ballsed this one up as Conservative MP's themselves with the poor arguments and rank dishonesty they have used to justify their actions.

From Brendan Clarke-Smith claiming that feeding children would be somehow "nationalising" them, to Mark Jenkinson claiming that free school meals would be used to buy drugs, to Phillip Davies bullying abuse of constituents, to the spitefulness and rank dishonesty of Ben Bradley and Selaine Saxby I'm afraid that Conservative MP's have made a rod for their own back.

Time for Conservatives to start doing something they want everyone else to do but never do themselves. Take responsibility for their own screw ups.

Such as the blatantly false accusations that people would just use free school meals to pay for drugs have a nasty insidious purpose. To start making the argument for introducing food stamps. One of the very worst American "welfare" policies.

I am guessing you don't like food stamp policy because of the restrictions, but food stamps don't count against taxes or other benefits
