I noticed that Prince Harry(can I call him Prince?) did not stop at the church alter after his Grandfather's funeral service and nod. Was this a sign of having left the Church of England? Is it a big deal?

(27,299 posts)Perhaps he was just distracted by being back, and uncomfortable with the whole family situation. It could not have been easy. Some of the family was pretty chilly (particularly Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie). Some much more welcoming. The entire family was so obviously grief stricken. Sometimes that can heal a rift. Sometimes it can deepen it.
He should be heading back to his wife and son, real soon, maybe with some degree of healing.

(102,502 posts)I would say it depends on whether your parents taught you to do it (did William?), or you've gone in for some formal role in the church (I think it's something I've noticed that priests, lay readers, and so on are likely to do). Though atheist now, I was confirmed as a teenager in the CofE, and it wasn't taught to us as a "you should be doing this".
