Had to happen. Surprised it did though cause this administration knows no shame. But good. Suppose the next question is who will replace him? For me, although Hunt did a job on the NHS when he was Secretary of State at least he knows the working - so should be him, but as a remainer unlikely I think.

(14,800 posts)I can't discount the possibility that the Tories will dredge up somebody even worse to replace him. Chris Grayling perhaps? Or Jacob Rees-Mogg? Or maybe they might go full crony and appoint Dido Harding?

(9,685 posts)Of course you are right, there are some awful possibilities. Although maybe Sajid might be brought back in now Cummings has gone? He might make a reasonable fist of it. Better than some of the alternatives.

I don't know if she'd do more damage as Heath Sec or NHS Chief Executive. Probably the latter, since it would be harder to force her to resign when the screw-ups start. Anyone with a religious turn of mind should pray she gets neither.

Yeah, could be worse, I suppose.
