Related: About this forumWe do not have the TIME for Labour to give the Tories a get out of jail free card YET AGAIN.
Could the Labour Conference Performance be any less underwhelming? Honestly? What are they playing at? The KNOCK OUTS have been lined up for them. Petrol Shortages. Rising Food Costs Coupled With Food Shortages. Covid Death Toil. Energy Poverty And Huge Rises In Energy Costs. Benefit Cuts For The Poorest. Army On Streets. Soaring Taxes. Inflation At 4% And Rising.
So, what does Labour do
snipe and take swipes from left to right and right to left, over the top resignations, Trans rights stumbles, and giving a Tory supporting MSM all the narrative needs to point to the divisions in Labour as the headline. In the meantime, all the issues above continue to worsen, and the Tories continue to push us all over the Brexit edge. With an 80-seat majority all ammunition should be focused on them, not on ANYTHING else. The country deserves better. The country needs better.
Just finishing listening to Starmers speech and I dont know what you think but I dont think it will move the dial one inch. Centre left positions. Tick. Law and Order. Tick. Pandemic response. Tick. Music in schools? While that is important of course, may I suggest kicking the Tories in the balls over and over about the soaring rise in the cost of living may have a tad more 2021 cut through

(7,949 posts)Living on the edge, that Starmer ...
His deeply stupid remarks about his warped view of UK constitutional politics haven't won him any new friends in Scotland (or Wales, I'm sure). After equating the Tories and SNP (neatly ignoring the fact that Labour and the Tories have been in an unholy anti-SNP coalition in Aberdeen City Council for the last few years - actually, maybe he didn't ignore it, perhaps he just hasn't a shadow of a clue), he came out with this:

Well no, I'd imagine she doesn't, because that would be fucking deranged.
Such a humdinger of a zinger was this that Labour apparatchiks have done their best to expunge it from the record of his conference speech.
It's unbelievable that Starmer is relying on hoary old fossil Gordon Brown to lead a commission into how to "settle" the devolution question. Brown will never live down the "Vow" promises of radical, world-beating devolution for Scotland during and after the independence referendum, none of which ever materialized because he held, and still holds, no power to bring them about even if he was serious about it.

We all need Labour to be engaging and relevant rather than the mess it is.
