TWO people aged 75 and 66 have been arrested in the Highlands in connection with vandalism at the Trump Turnberry golf course earlier this month.

On Wednesday, police arrested a 75-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman following enquiries in Oban – which is more than 140 miles away from the course by road.

The pair have since been released pending further enquiries, and the investigation remains ongoing.
During the protest, activists dug up the greens and spray painted the words “Gaza is not for sale” across the lawn of the golf course.
Activists with Palestine Action said they targeted Trump’s golf course over the US administration’s plan “to ethnically cleanse Gaza”.

Police confirmed that a 33-year-old man has been charged on Friday in connection with damage caused to the Turnberry golf course.

The 33-year-old was initially arrested on Wednesday, March 12, police said, and he is now due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, March 31.

Suspect Kieran Robson, 33, was arrested earlier this month in connection with the investigation and was charged on Friday.
Robson made no plea to the single charge of malicious mischief when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.
The accused, of Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, was released on bail pending a further court appearance.
A Scottish government publication from October 2023 defines the common law offence of malicious mischief as the "wilful, wanton and malicious destruction of, or damage to, the property of another".
