I prefer that Cardin-MD retires in 2030 because the 4 MD Democratic statewide officials will run.

Governor Wes Moore(a black male),Lt Governor Aruna Miller(Indian Female),
Attorney General Anthony Brown(a black male) and Comptroller Brooke Lierman(White Female) will complete their 2nd term in 2030.
MD sent 1 White Female to the US Senate(Barbara Mikulski).
There has not been any non white US Senator from MD.
There is 1 likely black female Democratic MD US Senate candidate in 2024.- Angela Alsobrooks.
Angela Alsobrooks does not have a base outside of Prince George’s County.
I like Jamie Raskin and John Sarbanes but I think it is time MD sends a non white male to the US Senate.
I preferred that Anthony Brown ran for re-election to his MD-4CD US House seat in 2022 because it would make it easier him for him to run for the US Senate in 2024 if and when Ben Cardin decides to retire. Anthony Brown will be in the middle of his first term as Attorney General in 2024.
Anthony Brown would be the 3rd top tier MD Democratic US Senate candidate in 2024 along with Jamie Raskin and John Sarbanes.
Anthony Brown is the most experienced.(24 to 30 years)
8 years in the MD House of Delegates.
8 years as MD Lt. Governor
6 years in the US House.
2 to 8 years as MD Attorney General.
John Sarbanes(18 to 24 years)
18 to 24 years in the US House.
Jamie Raskin(18 to 24 years)
10 years in the MD State Senate.
8 to 14 years in the US House.
Aruna Miller(10 to 16 years)
8 years in the MD House of Delegates
2 to 8 years as MD Lt Governor.
Brooke Lierman(10 to 16 years)
8 years in the MD House of Delegates
2 to 8 years as MD Comptroller.
Glenn Ivey(10 to 16 years)
8 years as Prince George’s County State Attorney
2 to 8 years in the US House of Representatives.
David Trone(8 to 14 years)
8 to 14 years in the US House.
Wes Moore(2 to 8 years)
2 to 8 years as Governor.

Looking at the former MD US Senators.
Mikulski was 80 years old when she retired.
P. Sarbanes was 73 years old when he retired.
Mathias was 64 years old when he retired.
Ben Cardin has been in elected office in MD office since 1966 so he is a likely retirement. If Cardin retires in 2024, I would like to see Lt Governor Aruna Miller run because MD will have its 1st non white female US Senator. Governor Wes Moore can pick a new Lt Governor who will be his runningmate in 2026.
There has been 1 US Senator who was elected to the US Senate during the middle of his first term in office.
Bob Casey Jr. PA.
Casey was in the middle of his 1st term as PA Treasurer when he 1st ran for the US Senate-2006 defeating Rick Santorum.
There will be no problem for Anthony Brown,Brooke Lierman,or Aruna Miller to run for the US Senate in 2024 if and when Ben Cardin decides to retire.
