If Durbin(D-IL) decides not to seek re-election to the US Senate in 2026, Does Giannoulias run?

Giannoulias ran for Obama’s former IL US Senate seat in 2010 after serving 1 term as IL Treasurer. Giannoulias lost that race by a narrow margin to Mark Kirk-R. The reasons for Giannoulias defeat is Republican wave and Blagojevich.
12 years after Giannoulias 2010 US Senate defeat, Giannoulias was elected IL Secretary of State in 2022. Giannoulias won the 2022 IL Secretary of State Election by a 10.5 percent margin.
Does Giannoulias make a 2nd run for the US Senate in 2026 if Durbin does not seek re-election?
Does Giannoulias stand a chance of winning the 2026 IL US Senate Election? The Republicans don’t have a top tier moderate Republican in 2026 like they did in 2010.

What about Pritzker? Larry_M Mar 2023 #1
Pritzker wants the Whitehouse, I'd vote for him. He's an FDR. Bluethroughu Mar 2023 #2

I really like him. He may be too much of an “action guy” and “doer” to go the Senate. But, I bet he could get it, if he wanted.

He's not afraid to challenge his peers.

I hope Durbin stays in office, right now Ginnoulous needs to hangout in Sec of State, for a couple election cycles. If we've learned anything from Repubs...Sec of State is a critical role.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up with a repub senator after Durbin.

Champaign County IL, which is outside the Chicago Metro Area. Durbin like Frerichs is also from the central part of IL.
Frerichs has been Treasurer for 3 terms and previously served 8 years in the IL State Senate and 5 years as Champaign County Auditor.

Low level statewide elected officials like
Lt Governor Stratton
Attorney General Raoul
Comptroller Mendoza
Treasurer Frerichs
Secretary of State Giannoulias.

Any of these candidates are favored to win the November General Election if they win the Democratic Nomination.

I though she was a solid office holder and could have made senator or governor had her dad not clinged to his power beyong his welcome. She saw the writing on the wall and moved on with her life.
