Can you fine folks tell me the best way to use Murphy Oil Soap?

I have pine cabinets in my kitchen. They need a cleaning. I used the Oil Soap several years ago...I guess I did it wrong.Was not pleased with the results. Do you use it and do you have any hints to make this work a success?
There are a few grease spots on the cabinet above the stove, it did not remove these grease spots upon my last try. I need to do it again and wonder if this is the best product to use. I just bought quart of the cleaner and hesitate to tackle the job. Any hints would be appreciated.

1. I have it and use it for wood floors

diluted. If the spots are On the wood this should remove them. Try full strength on a tip of a cloth, rub hard. Rinse. That is what I would do.
If the spots are in the wood this won't help. Sanding may be needed.

Murphy's is one of my favorite all-purpose cleaning agents.

But I don't have any specific advice.

3. MO wont cut kitchen grease. Remove that first then recondition with MO

I thought this was crazy until I tried it on the vent hood and surrounding wood, don't use it anywhere that comes in contact with food... Tire degreaser. Dilute it half and half with water and wear gloves. It didn't discolor my cabinets, but do a spot test inside one to be sure.

4. Believe it or not --

-- I use Mr. Clean "Clean Freak" on grease from cooking on my cabinets. Spray on, wipe off and they look perfect.
