How do I get rid of Ghostery - or should I? Is it a Firefox thing?
So long as it was just an icon on the toolbar, it was ignorable. But now it started popping up a "Trackers" window, plus leaving a number in a circle on top of my current window.
I can't find it in the list of programs (to be uninstalled) or in the Apps. At least, how do I get rid of the number-in-the-purple-circle on top of my Window?!1

(2,243 posts)It's become a bit more corporate and complicated since then.
If you want it to go away (or change it's settings) go to the 3line menu in the upper right and select the puzzle piece for AddOns.

(7,941 posts)who wants to keep Ghostery needs to set its options: https://extension.ghostery.com/en/settings
There's a checkbox there for "Show the purple box tracker list in the corner of my browser".
It's seamless and unobtrusive the way I have it set up: just a very small Ghostery icon on the Navigation Toolbar that shows how many trackers it's blocking on a particular page. If I click on it, I can access the details and tweak what's going on.

(7,941 posts)I'd stopped visiting a bunch of sites because they took too long to load or would hang. Now they're usable again.
This explains what Ghostery does: https://www.ghostery.com/why-ghostery/for-individuals/
