buying a new tablet question re: Verizon

I feel like I missed the day in school where they taught everyone this and now I don't understand.....

Okay, so I have a nice android smartphone and I have Verizon as my carrier.

I am looking at buying a tablet. The one I like is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. The one that Verizon sells is 32 gb. They don't sell the 16 gb model.

So my question is..... can I purchase the 16 gb one elsewhere and still have Verizon activate it and set up my data plan.

I think I have read that you don't need a cell plan with a tablet. I am just a little confused.

Please explain this to me like I am a 5 year old.

Thank you

...and you don't need to buy your tablet from Verizon.

Shop around and buy the tablet that best suits your needs... Verizon now allows using your smartphone as a hot spot free of charge, so just connect your wifi capable tablet to your smartphone hotspot.

I have an ASUS 32GB tablet with a 64GB Micro SD card for extended memory... I used to tether my tablet to my phone.. first via bluetooth, then via USB cable (faster, more stable). Now, my wife and I connect via my Android hotspot whenever we travel.

Just make sure you have a decent data plan for your phone. Verizon just changed their rate structure and it's pretty pricey if you go over... like $15.00 per 1GB. We have a 10GB plan for the two of us, and we usually hover around the 5GB range monthly, but when we travel we get close to the 10GB limit.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your new tablet.!!!
