help with 'exception_access_violation' error
Doesn't give a code. Just says Windows Exception in top border and EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. I'm trying to play a lousy 100mb game and getting this error when I try to open it. This is the only time this has happened. Most games I play are 1gb or less. Been going round and round on the googles looking for a fix and can't find anything. At least anything I'm actually capable of doing...
What I've found are references to both Java and file errors in the system. I just don't have a clue. Have latest Java and all other updates. Run Malwarebytes, use MSE. Running Win7 home premium, 8gb RAM. let me know if you need other info.
And, if I may also ask - is there any software that checks your entire computer for bad/missing files/dlls.I MAY have a bad sector in my HD but was told since it's 1TB, another sector would take over for the bad one? I have to sleep now. Blathering...
Any help is greatly appreciated. I really hate losing to a computer...

(37,468 posts)To check your hard drives for errors, run Command Prompt as administrator and type in chkdsk /f , then hit enter. You then answer Y for yes, exit command prompt and reboot. Your computer will then be checked for errors on the hard drive.

(10,136 posts)The program is trying to access memory that does not belong to the program, usually memory address zero. It is a common coding error, but one that only the programmer can fix.
