Or was my adware attack a Microsoft plot?!1

During the hack, I started getting malware or whatever - adware attacks. Since I'm LowTech I paranoidly wondered whether this was connected. Our DU Computer Help group helped out with Cleaners (but didn't work), and while I was deleting individual cookies, found one from fbi.com - huhhh?!1 Or are the attacks a Microsoft plot?!1 --- I just got a popup from Microsoft saying that Edge is much more efficient at blocking malware than Firefox!1 Haha
***********ON EDIT: That said (above), I'm embarking on dumping Firefox & going to Edge. Will appreciate any input, thanks.

(10,136 posts)In five years, Edge may be a fully functional browser.
Until then it is Firefox and IE11 for me.

(72,402 posts)Is totally cumbersome, lacks a Command menu, but i haven't had a single freeze or attack like with Ff. Might go to IE the only one i used forever until this this Ff year. Doesn't Ff use tons more memory?

(10,136 posts)Edge is the new Microsoft browser.
Edge currently lacks many features of a finished browser, as you are finding out. But the display of HTML works fine.
I have never noticed a memory problem with FF, now on version 50.0

(72,402 posts)somewhere in a basic Search and they said that Ff uses tons more memory than a couple or three other ones. When I get through synching and streamlining my Bookmarks into Edge from Ff, am going to UNinstall Ff. I'll be digging around to figure out how to do it. If you have any tips, will appreciate.
