Epson printer gets a "Not Recognised error" when installing a new ink cartridge.
I have two new Epson black cartridges.
I've tried unsuccessfully to install one, and then the alternative one.
Neither are being recognized by my Epson printer.
When I re-einstall the almost empty previous black cartridge, it is recognized.
It does recognize the curreent partially used color cartridges.
HELP!
Thanks

(6,262 posts)The old unplug and reset trick. Rub the bottom of the cartridge on a cloth before reinserting.
Look for the most recent printer driver to download.
Double check if the "new Epson" cartridges are from a recognized source.
If bought at a retail, return and get new.
If bought on the net, that may be the problem.
Have an older Epson here and resisting upgrading or buying new. So far, no problems.
Good luck.

(7,715 posts)If that doesn't work, google your post's title ("Epson printer gets a "Not Recognised error" when installing a new ink cartridge" . This gets me tons of hits.
Hard to say what the exact fix might be without the model number.

(34,195 posts)The new cartridges are Epson, bought from Target, which is where I bought the printer about 4-5 years ago.
I've bought my ink cartidges there for this printer with no problem all these years.
I've performed all of the suggestions posted by DU memebers (above), and ones I found using Google.
I did see some posts on Google where others over the years have had this problem with Epson printers.
That is the only brand name I saw regarding this issue.
