2019 alternative to a boombox?
I thought I'd ask this here because people here know about new media.
So I love my boombox. it has a remote control so I can preset and surf radio channels quickly and easily.
what is the modern version of this. I still like and listen to the radio.
so, what do you use or suggest?
thanks

(106,379 posts)I think most people now would think portable blue tooth speakers and an iphone or other cell phone's mp3 digital content.
If you mean in the home, well, Bose still sells its wave radio systems (all in one, with CD and blue tooth capabilities too)

(22,621 posts)I listen to the radio when I get up and when I go to sleep. I think it's the remote control that I am wondering if there is a modern equivalent of. Not looking or CD. I keep dreading the day this thing goes kaput.

(13,708 posts)My 3 in one machine stopped working. CD, radio, and cassette. I'll get another one. Because I listen to all three. Oh, and yes, I have a RECORD PLAYER, too. Music is everything.

(22,621 posts)I don't have to make a change now. I am just thinking about what to do if my boombox and remote contol go kaput.
I listen to the radio.
I don't have cassette tapes anymore and I rarely listen to my CDs.
Just the radio and the convenience of a remote control to surf stations.

Otherwise, if you have an iphone or android you can get a bluetooth speaker, some come with radio tuners, and use the phone to broadcast the content.
I think most radio stations have an app or web page that allows you to listen.
I know NPR has an app that allows you to listen or skip ahead to the next article.
