embedded tweets showing "link to tweet"

Didn't have this problem last week. Suddenly there it is.

I can whitelist the site, that fixes it. But how do I grant an exception to Twitter in Firefox? Or is it an Adblock issue. That tells about permissions, but never tells how to grant exceptions.

Hmm. I don't know why that would be happening. Skinner Oct 2019 #4
It's trackers following you. So much is tracked by pictures & interlocking corporate agreements. Bernardo de La Paz Oct 2019 #3

But they won't embed if the tweet has been deleted. It'll just show a link that says "Link to tweet".

I'm not having trouble posting, just tweets not showing automatically from others' posts

I see there is a post below that says it might have something to do with your browser settings. Hopefully that can fix it?

In Firefox, go to Options and choose the Privacy & Security item on the left. Click Custom. You can also Manage Permissions on Cookies and Site Data.

Companies carefully say that tracking info is kept confidential but "shared with third party partners". Well, all the Big Internet is third party partners: Facebook, Twitter, Google (including), DoubleClick, advertisers, even politicians. Visit Twitter and DoubleClick will know your path through Twitter posts.

When you post a photo on DU and don't trim the excess crap off the end, then ALL the trackers can access your posts on DU to get an idea of your interests, concerns, and political views. The crap is usually attached after a question mark in the URL. Trim it off and test the link. If you trimmed too much, trim less and test again. For pictures you often you get a better resolution picture anyway. The "Preview" button is your friend.

If friends copy and post your untrimmed link then the trackers know who your friends are and what the connection is.

Block all trackers.

If you block trackers, you lose some embeds like YouTube & Twitter. I just see a blank space where a youtube video would be.

But I read faster than videos can talk, even videos without much extraneous blather. If a video is summarized well enough to convince me it is important, then I will temporarily arrange to view it.

When members post videos, those ones who care about their readers will take the 60 seconds it takes to write a summary of the key point and convince readers to watch it.

Always some piece of software update tweaking something or other. Usually it follows a Chromium update. Now I see DRM has inserted its smiley self into 6abc weather forecasts.
