New message from Google. Can I ignore it?
Since I am a computer idiot, I don't know what they are asking me to do. I know I will screw up anything and my computer repair man is not making house calls.
Can I ignore these messages I got this AM? 2 messages:
"Back up & Sync from Google
Can't sync for Pat C
A sync folder is missing.
I have no idea what they are talking about. I am a simple user and always run into trouble because I am not aware about whatever they are talking about.
Any guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks

(8,447 posts)Generally, these are the initial questions:
1. What computer is it ?
2. What operating system are you running ?
3. What age is the computer ?
Lets start with these.

(7,506 posts)Old Dell updated from Win 7 to Win 10 by my computer guy.
Running Firefo except every once in a while IE or Bing pops up, I delete them and go back to Firefox.
On the Desktop, Since we're at it, can you tell me why I can't upload photo's from my iPhone 8 without being told that I have to have iTunes? I'm not going to install that. No need. Any other suggestions? I can post photo's on my old Win 7 laptop with no problem but get the message on this desktop 10 computer that I need to install iTunes. Nuts.
Can I still use the laptop to post pictures Don't dare to turn it on.
I am moving and want to post things for sale, want to take pictures of the "goodies" but can only do it with my old digital camera on Win 7 laptop, not the iPhone8 that I now have.
Geeze, technology sure had passed this old timer by.
Thanks for any help.

(8,447 posts)1. Regarding photos and iTunes, lets see if someone more experiences can say. My feeling is to install iTunes. But I have not done iTunes on Windows for a few years.
2. Regarding the bad sync: it sounds like you have GOOGLE DRIVE, which is free online storage for documents, photos , music. Do you use this ? Do you want to use ?

(7,506 posts)I checked about installing iTunes in order to use the iPhone 8 to post pictures. Guess what? iTunes, to install is $189.00. Not in the budget and no need for any other iTunes options. There must be a way to make this darn machine allow me to post pictures without spending this kind of $$.
Anyone else have this problem?
I guess I will try and keep doing my little projects on the laptop w/Win7. Can I tell you how much I don't like Win10? I had been using Win7 with no problem. It is probably me but I can't imagine why I have to have iTunes and what is the connection. Don't even know what Google Drive is? Don't know if I need or want it.
How dumb am I?
There must be another way except I can't find it.
Thanks for your help.

(1,923 posts)iTunes is free. Be careful where you get your software (e.g. download from Apple, not random sites). If this came from software on your computer (vs. a web site), you've been infested :/

(8,447 posts)1. iTunes for $ 189. I think u have a virus. They want your credit card, one way or another.
2. Sync: same suspicion.

3. Malwarebytes free version is sort of recommended. But things can go wrong.
3a. if I feel uncomfortable, proceed to step 4. Now if u had a Mac, I would be able to advise in detail. But you don't. And for the sake of privacy and your computer integrity, I will omit additional diagnosing suggestions. (things like REGISTRY can be damaged, and then we are in deeper water.)
4. So, contact your local computer technician.
4a. Tell them to make sure your data is backed up. A simple USB chip may suffice. I use a pair of 1 Terabyte USB drives.
4b. Tell them to install Malwarebytes and to instruct you in writing on what to use AND not to use.
lets go with this for a bit.

(7,506 posts)I Googled this and found a lot of info on Google.com plus
check this:

In regard to the iTunes, I went to their site, not Apple. Will do Apple tomorrow.
Thanks everyone.
